MVJH girls drop doubleheaders

MOUND CITY — Marmaton Valley Junior High’s girls ended the pre-Christmas portion of schedule with a pair of tough doubleheader losses Monday and Tuesday.
Host Uniontown defeated the Wildcat A team 30-26 and the Marmaton Valley B team 14-12 Tuesday.
Scoring for the Wildcats in the A team contest were Kyla Drake with 11 points, Misty Storrer with seven, Nalea Alexander with four and Magie Stevenson and Shayla Brooks with two points each.
The B team was led by Makayla Brooks iwth four points, Trinitee Gutierrez with three, Shayla Brooks and Isabelle Bigelow with two points each and Megan Ensminger with one.
On Monday, the Wildcat A team fell to host Jayhawk-Linn High 36-21, while the B team lost 16-7.
Shayla Brooks scored eight points to lead Marmaton Valley, followed by Storrer with seven, Drake with four and Makayla Brooks with two.
“We had some great interior passing,” Wildcat coach Kim Ensminger said. “We simply missed a lot of easy shots. They had big girls underneath that played very physical on offense. We couldn’t match up that well with them.”
Gutierrez scored five points to lead Marmaton Valley in the B team contest. Shayla Brooks had the other field goal.
