Pony volleyball team ends season

CHANUTE — Iola Middle School’s eighth-grade volleyball girls finished their season at the Royster Middle School tournament in Chanute.
Iola went 0-3.
“These girls have been great to coach. They are hard workers and have improved so much since the first day of practice in August,” said Terri Carlin, IMS eighth-grade head coach.
Carlin said she and assistant coach Annette Rexwinkle enjoyed coaching the girls and applauded their effort.
Meadowview defeated the Ponies 25-17, 25-17. Kyra Moore had five service aces for Iola. Trilby Bannister had three ace serves and Morgan Wilson had one ace.
Independence beat Iola 25-11, 25-17. Emma Piazza put down a kill and served an ace. Moore and Bannister each had an ace serve.
Royster defeated the Ponies 25-5, 25-13. Serving one ace each were Kim Kaufman, Moore, Jo Lohman and Wilson. Addie Haar and Torrie Lewis each had a kill and Piazza had two set assists.
