OVERLAND PARK — Offense was hard to come by for the Allen Community College baseball team over the weekend.
The Red Devils scored in only two of 28 innings, while dropping all four games at the hand of host Johnson County Community College.
Allen dropped scores of 6-0 and 5-0 Friday, then twice fell by scores of 5-4 Monday. Monday’s doubleheader was pushed back from Saturday because of rainy weather.
The losses extend Allen’s losing streak to nine. The Red Devils (3-12) will return to action Friday for their long-awaited home opener against Cowley Community College. The four-game series begins at 4 p.m.
Because of the schedule change, a single game originally planned for Monday will be rescheduled. No makeup date has been set.

ALLEN MUSTERED only one hit off Johnson County starter Aaron Schnurbusch in Friday’s opener, a first-inning double by Tim Lewis. He also struck out 11 Red Devil batters. Meanwhile, the Cavaliers pushed across two runs each in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to take control.
Tanner Lee took the loss, giving up six hits and five walks in five innings with four strikeouts. Jake Johnson gave up two runs in one inning of work with three hits, a walk and a strikeout.
The Cavaliers’ Matt Blackham was even more dominant in Friday’s nightcap, allowing only an infield single to Jerrik Sigg in the top of the sixth inning, while racking up 15 strikeouts in seven innings.
A pair of Allen errors led to two Johnson County runs in the bottom of the fifth. Then the Cavaliers scored three in the sixth without a hit, taking advantage of an error, wild pitch, passed ball and two walks.
Geoffrey Bourque pitched for the Red Devils, giving up three hits, two earned runs and four walks in five innings of work with four strikeouts. Grant McMillan pitched an inning, giving up one earned run with two walks and a strikeout.

THE ALLEN OFFENSE finally clicked in the third inning of Monday’s opening, plating four runs. Nate Arnold drove in an RBI double, followed by Troy Willoughby’s two-run triple. Trey Francis drove in the fourth run on a suicide squeeze.
The Cavailiers bounced back with two runs in the third, and two more to tie it in the fifth before scoring the tie-breaker on a successful suicide squeeze of their own.
Arnold took the loss, giving up the tie-breaking run during his 1 2/3 innings of relief work. He gave up three hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Seth Jones started and gave up three hits and two walks in three innings. Gage Dickerson added 1 1/3 innings of middle relief, with three hits and two strikeouts.
Lewis and Mason Kellett each had two hits for Allen, while Arnold had a double and Francis a single.

MONDAY’S finale proved to be just as frustrating.
The Red Devils were scoreless through the first six innings before scoring four in the top of the seventh to tie the game at 4-4. But a leadoff walk, followed by a sacrifice bunt led to a walk-off single by the Cavaliers’ Juan Bowers.
The Red Devils’ Drew Walden, Sigg and Lewis led off the sixth with singles before Mason Kellett delivered a bases-clearing triple. Arnold tied the score with an RBI groundout.
Sigg and Lewis each delivered two singles for Allen, while Kellett had a triple. Arnold, Francis and Walden had singles.
Jake Johnson, Lucas Westervelt, Auston Weldy, Hunter Miller and Logan Bausch shared the pitching duties by committee, giving up a combined six hits and seven walks in 6 1/3 innings, with four strikeouts.
