Jessica Peters, head volleyball coach and athletic director at Allen Community College, has been recognized for the Red Devils’ prowess this season on the court.
Peters was listed as one of the “30 Under 30” Award recipients, given annually to 30 “up and coming volleyball coaches under 30 years old” at all levels.
The recipients were announced this week by American Volleyball Coaches Association.
Peters, who recently turned 30, has coached at Allen the past eight years, seven as head coach.
Under Peters’ tutelage, the Red Devils went 23-15 on the season, a 10-win improvement from 2012. Allen briefly received votes as a top 20 NJCAA Division II program during the most recent season.
Peters has had 11 athletes receive all Jayhawk Conference or Region VI honors, or KJCCC or NJCAA player of the week recognition.
In addition, Red Devil athletes have earned national recognition for maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher in four of the past five academic years.
Peters was one of only two coaches from two-year colleges to be honored by AVCA.
