PITTSBURG — Allen Community College indoor track traveled to the Wendy’s/ Pittsburg State Invitational last Saturday.

The Red Devils gained momentum by setting personal bests and adding national qualifying marks from its runners. With the indoor season in full swing, the Red Devils are headed in the right direction with the championship season just a few short weeks away.

For the boys, Rashion Walker posted a national qualifying mark in the 400-meter race with a time of 48.47 seconds. Also competing in the event were Kyrease Desseau  (50.15) and Damilola Summers (50.95).

Armando Colome set a national qualifying mark in the 60m dash, completing the event in 6.87 seconds. Colome also recorded a 22.20 in the 200m dash.

Jeremiah Revere was the final Red Devil to set a national qualifying mark by completing the 600m race in 1:21.47.

“I would say that overall everybody did well this weekend. Armando Colome, Rashion Walker, and Jeremiah Revere were our top performers,” assistant track coach Dwight Davis said.

No Lady Devils punched their tickets to nationals, but the girls still put on some impressive performances. Tiara Paschal, Kali Flowers, and Giavonni Cunningham all competed in the 60m dash. Pascal finished as the fastest Lady Devil in the event by a hair (7.85), followed by Flowers (7.86) and Cunningham (7.95).

Raianna Grant, the only other Lady Devil at the competition, completed the 400m in 1:04.

“Each week we will continue to chop it away. I try not to have the athletes chase times or standards. Instead, I emphasize the need for execution each week,” Davis said.”

This weekend the Red Devils head to Northwest Missouri for the MSSU Lion Invite today.
