Allen County Community College’s Red Devils came close to going undefeated in their weekend triangular meet. They went 1-1 instead.
The Red Devils and Coffeyville Community College’s Red Ravens rocked the ACCC gym playing the first match of the afternoon Saturday. Coffeyville was able to pull out a 25-23, 25-17, 23-25, 25-22.
“We started alright in each game but after a service error we would give them back three or four points,” said Jessica Peters, ACCC head volleyball coach. “We held them off in the third set to win but after taking a lead in the fourth set, we had service errors which allowed Coffeyville to get the momentum.”
Peters said the match was even at the net with each team having its “go-to” hitters. Nicole Rockhold delivered 22 kills and Allison Jenicke downed 11 kills for Allen County.
Erika Mack was credited with 26 set assists and 12 digs. Nicole Reed came up with 21 digs while Rockhold had 16 digs. Karlee Bobbitt had 11 set assists.
Jenicke racked up three solo blocks at the net while Rockhold had one. Jenicke also had 14 digs. Rockhold, Mack and Leesha Plagens each had a service ace.
Andrea Miller had six kills and one block assist. Makhala Giardina had a block assist and two kills.
Allen County regrouped and defeated Northeastern Oklahoma 25-16, 25-21, 25-21. Bobbitt had 16 set assists and Casey Droddy had 10 assists.
Rockhold led the net attack with 11 kills, one solo block and one assisted block. Miller had nine kills, one solo block and one assisted block. Jenicke had nine kills and one assisted block. Plagens had two assisted blocks and Girardina had one assist block.
Plagens had two ace serves and Jenicke had one.
Rockhold was credited with 19 digs, Jenicke had 15 and Morgan Scott had 10 digs.
Allen County is 4-4 and hosts Labette Wednesday in Jayhawk Eastern Division play.
