CANEY — The Humboldt golf team competed in the regional meet in Caney Valley on Monday and junior Ryan Sellman came away with his third state tournament bid.

Sellman finished third overall after shooting an 81. He tied for second but lost the playoff to Slae Short of Fredonia.

“Ryan was not feeling well throughout the round but he battled and gave everything he had to post that 81,” head coach Eric Sparks said. “I was proud of the way he competed and to qualify for state for the third time in a row is quite an accomplishment. He has worked hard all season for this and I know he would like to improve his placing at state from last year.”

Roni Bulk and Drake Hottenstein also competed at regionals. Hottenstien shot a 108 and Bulk shot a 120.

“They have both improved their scores throughout the season, and are committed to getting better,” Sparks said.

Sellman will finish the season Monday at the 3A State Tournament in Seneca at Spring Creek Golf Course. Tee time is set for 9 a.m
