The Fillies had the top pitcher and top offensive producer each selected to the Pioneer League’s First Team this season.
In the pitcher’s circle, sophomore Sierra Snavely made the lives of opposing batters difficult all season as she limited hitters to a .236 batting average and maintained a 2.12 ERA.
Snavely threw 132.1 innings with 97 strikeouts and just 20 walks.
The First-Team selection also was a positive contributor to the Fillies’ batting order with a .231 average and four doubles while hitting in the fifth-spot this season.
Offensively, the Fillies were led by senior center fielder Jadyn Sigg.
The clean-up hitter led the team in nearly every offensive category with a .414 average, five triples, two home runs and 16 RBIs.
She was also second on the team with 17 runs scored.
In addition to being such an offensive force, Sigg earned a spot on the First Team due to her stellar defense in center field. Across 138 innings in center field, Sigg committed only one error and had three outfield assists.
This honor is something the senior had been eyeing all season.
“I was pretty disappointed when I wasn’t on the First Team last year, so that was one of my goals this year,” Sigg said.
Sigg plans to concentrate solely on her studies next fall at Pittsburg State University and not play sports.
NEAR MISS
According to Fillies coach Chris Weide, senior shortstop Sydney Wade just missed being selected to the Pioneer League’s Second Team by one spot.
Wade hit .319 this season with eight extra-base hits and a team-high 20 runs scored from her lead-off spot.
