The postseason begins Tuesday for many area softball teams following the KSHSAA’s release of the softball regional tournament brackets.
The Iola Mustangs (10-13) open the 3A Regional 1 bracket Tuesday as the eighth seed. They host the Cherryvale Chargers (9-13) at 5:30 p.m. If they advance, they face the winner of the match-up between first-seed Frontenac (18-4) and 16th-seed Anderson County (2-21) the following Thursday.
After dropping down to 2A this season, the Humboldt Lady Cubs (17-9) open the postseason Monday. The sixth-seed Lady Cubs host 11th-seed Udall (7-14) Monday at 5:30 p.m. If they advance, Humboldt will face the winner of third-seeded Burden (19-3) and 14th-seeded Southeast (3-18) Wednesday.
Crest (9-15), the seventh seed, heads on the road Monday to face 10th-seed Flinthills (6-18) at 5:30 p.m. If they advance, then they face the winner of the second seed Central Heights (17-7) vs. 15th-seed Eureka (1-20) Wednesday.
The ninth-seed Yates Center Wildcats (6-16) will also be on the road Monday as they face eighth-seed Hillsboro at 5:30 p.m. If they advance, they face the winner of top seed Uniontown (17-6) against 16th-seed Marion (0-23) Wednesday.
