LYNDON — Southern Coffey County High’s track teams competed last Friday in Marais Des Cygnes Valley High Invitational. The nine-team meet was held at the Lyndon High School track.
The Lady Titans finished second, 99 points, to Burlin-game, which piled up 113 points to win the team title. The Titans finished fourth with 53 points as Burlingame won the boys’ division with 174 points.
Southern Coffey County’s girls won in the sand jumping pits.
Shelby Birk claimed gold in the long jump with a leap of 14 feet, 111⁄2 inches. Ashton Gudenkauf won the triple jump with a leap of 31’11⁄2” with Birk in second at 30” 1⁄2’.
Gudenkauf also placed third in the high jump at 4’8”. Sarah Webb took fourth at 4’6”. Katelyn Rogers and Gudenkauf were third and fifth in the javelin at 93’ 61⁄2” and 90’5”, respectively.
Kristen Stephens took sixth in the discus with a throw of 80’1”. Jenna Witteman was second in the 100-meter dash in 14.09 seconds and Stephens was third at 14.42. They went 2-3 in the 200-meter dash, Witteman at 28.98 and Stephens at 29.89.
Witteman claimed another silver medal in the 400-meter dash in 1:07.08. The Lady Titan 4×100-meter relay team of Stephens, Birk, Witteman and Gudenkauf took first in 55.11 seconds.
Taking fourth in the 4×800-meter relay race was the team of Myranda Hegwald, Keasha Parks, Kandace Shields and Sarah Webb in 12:40.39. Parks, Webb and Shields combined with Rogers to placed fifth in the 4×400-meter relay race in 5:05.04.
THE TITANS’ best performance of the day came in the 4×100-meter relay race. The foursome of R.J Snovelle, Travis Bryan, Charlie Patterson and Trevor Smith won the gold medal in 48.66 seconds.
Smith placed second in the 200-meter dash in 24.61 seconds and ran third in the 100-meter dash in 12.13. Bryan was fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:17.26.
Southern Coffey County’s 4×400-meter relay team of Chyler Ludolph, Snovelle, Smith and Logan Beyer placed sixth in 4:04.78.
In field events, Ludolph took second in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5’8” and Chris Alumbaugh was sixth at 5’6”. Patterson was sixth in the long jump with a leap of 18’3⁄4”.
Jerry Mirante earned a silver medal in the shot put with a toss of 43’71⁄4” and he was sixth in the discus at 105’5”. Ryan True placed fourth in the javelin with a throw of 127’0”.
Southern Coffey County’s teams are at Madison today competing in the Hartford High Invitational.
