Daylon Splane was rewarded for his outstanding senior season by being selected to the Coaches’ All-State Second Team.
“It feels pretty good,” Splane said. “I’m pretty excited.”
Splane made the list as the team’s “closer” after finishing the year with a 4-1 record, a 1.05 ERA and 54 strikeouts in 40 innings pitched.
Splane was also a force at the plate, where he hit .406 with 9 doubles and 24 RBIs.
Currently, Splane is planning on being “just” a student at Allen Community College come fall, but ACC coach Clint Stoy likely will try to convince Splane to come out for the Red Devil squad.
The shortstop, when he isn’t pitching, was also an All-Tri Valley League First Team selection, where he was joined by senior Rayce Hopeker and sophomore Dagen Goodner.
Hoepker, a pitcher and shortstop, had a 0.69 ERA this season and a 4-1 record.
Hoepker, who will be attending ACC next season on a basketball scholarship, hit .310 with seven doubles and a triple.
Goodner, who primarily played center field, hit .407 with six doubles and a team-high 28 RBIs.
Josh Vanatta made the league’s honorable mention selections. The second baseman hit for a team-high .429 clip this season with six doubles and a team-high 28 runs scored.

SOFTBALL
While All-State selections for softball won’t be unveiled until later, the Tri-Valley League released its All-League selections.
Senior shortstop Makaylah McCall was a first-team selection after batting .500 this season with 24 RBI and a pair of home runs.
Junior Rylan Wilhite was the first-team pitcher with her 108 strikeouts to just 28 walks in 106 innings pitched. Wilhite also hit .472 with 42 RBIs.
Sophomore Morgan Mauk was a terrifying weapon of the top of the order and the outfielder’s .634 average to go with an incredible 54 stolen bases earned her a place on the first team. That stolen base total is just 12 shy of the state’s all-time record.
Freshman catcher Winter Snyder rounds out the Cubs on the first team. Snyder made quite a debut on the high school level as she batted .600 with 25 RBIs and 28 stolen bases.
Senior second baseman Tilar Wells finished her Cub career with an honorable mention selection after she batted .500 this season with 20 RBIs.
