Splechter gets school record in 3200 at Eureka meet

After grabbing the school record in the 1600-meter run last year, junior Yates Center distance runner Hadley Splechter has another record to add to his already accomplished high school career after running the 3200-meter in 9 minutes, 37.84 seconds to put him on the top of the all-time list in school history.

Splechter also placed first in the 1600-meter run in Eureka on Thursday with a time of 4:59.42. Teammates Colin Bedell (5:00.26) and Jordan Smith (5:08.51) finished second and third, respectively.

Bedell also finished in second place in the 3200 with a time of 11:07.42.

Smith finished first in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:15.06.

Austin Crabtree grabbed second place finishes in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.82 and the 300-meter hurdles (46.19).

The 4×100-meter relay team consisting of Quin Lowder, John Righini and Kayle and Thayne Smith finished third (47.06 and the 4×800-meter relay team made up of Kobe Forsyth, Splechter, Bedell and Smith finished first overall (8:44.28).

The Yates Center boys finished the meet in third.

For the girls, Jaylee Catron finished first in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:43.69. Catron also placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 20.49.

The Wildcat girls finished 13th overall.

Yates Center will host their home meet on Tuesday.
