Marmaton Valley baseball gets home win over St. Paul

The Marmaton Valley boys earned a 7-5 win over St. Paul on Wednesday.

Senior starter Justice Pugh earned the win, going 6.2 innings and allowing five runs (four earned) on two hits and six walks with four strikeouts.

Brock Hall went 2-4 with two RBIs in the game and Pugh and Lane Bahnsen also recorded hits.

“We played pretty well today,” head coach Derek Scharff said. “Justice hasn’t pitched in a while and it showed early. St. Paul scored early and most of them were from walks and timely hits. He kept his composure and bounced back and almost pitched a complete game. The defense was the best I’ve seen this year. If we can play like that on defense I like our chances every time we step on the field.”

The game was the last for the Wildcats until regionals a week from Monday.
