As the school year inches closer, recreation baseball and softball are in its final stages at the Iola Recreation Department.

Wednesday night saw the conclusion of the Pee Wee and Little League for boys, along with the semi-finals for Jr. Ponytail.

In the Pee Wee final, A&W Restaurant shot out to an 8-0 lead over Iola Pharmacy, but the “Pharmacists” didn’t go away silently. Jase Herrmann and Brock Michael were part of the rally to bring Iola Pharmacy back within one run, each picking up two hits in the fourth and fifth innings. Ultimately, the effort was too late as A&W held on for the 8-7 win. Caden McClain, Kolton Hanson, Ty Shaughnessy, Tj Cash, and Kale Pratt led the way for A&W.
