UNIONTOWN – Hope Jurgensen has been a vital part in the development of Uniontown High softball the past three years. The Eagle senior has one final season to play for Uniontown but made a decision about her softball future.
Jurgensen recently signed a letter of intent to play for Allen County Community College in Iola next year. Jurgensen plays first base for Uniontown but has experience in the outfield.
“Hope is a good athlete and good softball player,” said Ed Wilkerson, ACCC softball head coach. “We expect her to be a strong contributor in our outfield next year.”
Jurgensen was a first-team All-Three Rivers League selection the past two seasons. The Eagles are the defending TRL softball champions.
“I liked the way the Allen County team is coached and how it is operated,” Jurgensen said. “I believe I can bring a strong work ethic and leadership to the team.
“I feel comfortable playing anywhere a coach puts me. This is a good opportunity for me to play college softball.”
Jurgensen is the daughter of Judy and Larry Jurgensen of Uniontown. She said she plans to pursue a degree in elementary education.
Jurgensen plays volleyball and basketball at UHS.
