Uniontown, Yates Center girls golf at Garnett

GARNETT — Uniontown High’s Eagles and the Yates Center High’s Wildcats were hard pressed on a cool, sunny day on the golf course Monday.
Yates Center finished eighth, 537, and Uniontown was ninth, 549, in the 2010 Anderson County High Invitational girls’ golf tournament. Chanute won by 10 strokes, with a 382.
Pittsburg’s Maggie Sloan was the top medalist with an 80.
Yates Center was led by Emily Baker with a 120 (58-62) for the 18-hole event. Margie Hartwig shot a 121 (60-61).
Becky Wendland had a 137 (67-70). McKenna Furst shot a 159 (83-76) and Sami Hatch was at 161 (79-82).
Uniontown’s top finisher was Emily Simpson at 128 (66-62) followed by Sabrena McAnulty at 134 (64-70).
Raven Lamb shot a 143 (68-75), Veronica Harrison was at 144 (77-67) and Danika Herring had a 148 (74-74).
The Eagles and Wildcats will compete in the Kansas Class 3-2-1A regional golf tournament at Caney next Monday.
