Wildcat boys finish third at Neodesha

After splitting up the past several weeks, the Yates Center track and field team came back together at Neodesha on Thursday.

The Wildcat boys finished third and the girls finished 11th.

Last weekend, junior Hadley Splechter grabbed the top time in the state in the 3200. On Thursday, Splechter finished first in the 800 with a time of 1:57.52 which is the fastest time that race has been run so far in class 2A.

The Wildcats 4×800 relay team of Splechter, Jordan Smith, Colin Bedell and Kobe Forsyth finished first with a time of 8:49.06.

Splechter also ran with the 4×400 team along with Smith, Bedell and Forsyth and they finished fourth with a time of 3:36.67.

The 4×100 team of Quin Lowder, John Righini, Kayle Smith and Forsyth finished third with a time of 47.64.

Forsyth also finished fourth in the 400 (43.60) while Lowder finished sixth (55.48).

Bedell took first in the 1600 with a time of 4:48.47 and Smith finished second (4:57.57). Austin Moffet finished ninth (5:20.48).

Moffet also finished seventh in the 3200 (12:16.01).

Kayle Smith finished sixth in the 110-meter hurdles (19.18) and 10th in the 300-meter hurdles (48.88).

On the girls’ side, Madelyn Proper finished ninth in the 800 (3:04.67) and seventh in the high jump with a distance of 4’4”.

Liberty Cavender finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.86 and seventh in the long jump with a distance of 12’08”.

The Wildcats will run at Burlington on Tuesday.
