COLONY — Marmaton Valley High’s Wildcat girls recorded their second win of the season at the expense of their hosts, Crest High’s Lady Lancers, Thursday.
In a makeup Three Rivers League contest, the Wildcats used a solid start to claim a 48-39. Both teams went into the game with one victory.
“We played like a team and it paid off for us,” said Kent Houk, MVHS girls head coach.
Marmaton Valley staked out a 28-13 halftime lead. Crest made a run in the second half, outscoring the Wildcats 26-20, but it wasn’t enough.
Alysha Westhoff led the Wildcats with 12 points and Kayla McNutt tossed in 10. The Cats were 18 of 33 from the free-throw line.
Crest, which lost 57-28 to Hartford on Tuesday, was led by Amanda Strickler with 11 points. The Lady Lancers were 16 of 32 at the line.
Marmaton Valley is 1-3 in TRL play and 2-11 overall. Crest is 0-2 in league and 1-13 overall.
Tonight, Marmaton Valley goes to Uniontown and Crest travels to Chetopa in TRL action.
In a two-quarter B-team game, Crest won 27-9.
Ashley Catt scored 10 for Crest and Jamee McEndree had five for Marmaton Valley.
