Wildcats fall in sub-state

The Yates Center volleyball team fell just short of state over the weekend alosing in the sub-state championship at home Saturday.
Yates Center started off with a 2-1 win over Uniontown (25-17, 23-25, 25-17).
Maria Jimenez had nine kills to lead her team. Stephenie Righini, Allison Pringle and Taylor Jacobs each had four.
Pringle and Madelynn Collins led the way with two aces each. Pringle had two blocks and Jacobs and Ballin each had 16 digs. Jacobs also had 17 assists to give her a double-double.
The Lady Wildcats then took on Oswego and won 2-1 (18-25, 25-16, 25-17).
This time it was Collins who had the hot hand defensively with a team-high eight kills followed by Pringle who had six.
Collins, Jacobs and Carli Masiarczyk each had two aces. Pringle had two blocks and Masiarczyk had 14 digs.
Yates Center then wrapped it up versus St. Mary’s-Colgan who won 0-2 (14-25, 9-25).
Jacobs had four kills to lead the way while Jimenez and Collins each had three. Pringle had two blocks and Righini had 10 digs.
The Lady Wildcats finished the season at 22-16 and 8-2 in league play which was good for a second place finish in the Three Rivers League.
