Yates Center battles for road sweep

OSWEGO — For the first two innings of Monday’s doubleheader in Oswego, things were not looking good for the Yates Center baseball team, but the Wildcats quickly turned a 2-0 deficit into a sweep.
The Wildcats got their offense going with a three-run third inning to grab a 3-2 lead. The go-ahead hit was off the bat of sophomore first baseman Aaron King with a two-run two-out double to the center fielder.
The Wildcats added three more runs in the fourth inning. Despite only managing one hit in the frame, they used their speed to force Oswego into several errors.
With another run in the fifth and two runs in both the sixth and seventh innings, the Wildcats cruised to an 11-4 victory.
Braydon Gaulding got the win by throwing three no-hit innings in relief of starter Ryan Moffet.
Senior Mikey Bruner led the team at the plate by going 3-of-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. He also drew a walk.
In game two, Gavin Dillow and Asher Sievers combined to throw a one-hitter in five innings to run-rule Oswego 12-0.
Dillow threw four innings with eight strikeouts and a two walks. He also went 3-for-3 at the plate and scored three runs.
