NEODESHA The Yates Center girls rebounded Tuesday night after falling in the opening round of the Wilson County Classic with a 43-41 win over Fredonia.
The Lady Cats, now 7-4 overall, advance to the fifth-place game versus Cherryvale on Thursday.
Yates Center started things off in a hole.
They trailed 15-4 after a quarter and 22-12 at the half.
They managed to start ramping up a comeback after halftime starting with a 17-8 third quarter to get them within two. From there, despite only hitting two shots in the fourth quarter, Yates Centers 8-15 free throw shooting down the stretch was enough to overcome the Lady Yellowjackets and get the win.
Leading the way for the Lady Cats was junior Madelynn Collins who had 14 points followed by 12 from senior Allie Pringle.
Junior Jaylee Catron had nine and junior Taylor Jacobs scored six followed by two for senior Jordan Weseloh.
Tip-off for the Yates Center girls is set for Thursday at 6 p.m.
