Cubs’ Manbeck receives all-state baseball honors

Jacob Manbeck was strong behind the plate for another season for Humboldt High’s Cubs. Manbeck, a senior, also was one of the team’s top hitters.
Manbeck’s hitting paid off in state recognition. Manbeck, who was named to the 2010 All-Tri-Valley League baseball first team as a catcher, garnered All-Class 2-1A second team honors as a designated hitter.
Manbeck was the only area baseball player to earn state honors by the Kansas Baseball Coaches Association.
Joining Manbeck on the TVL first team was junior Dalton Smith. Smith pitched and played shortstop and catcher for the Wildcats.
Yates Center High’s senior Kassy Reyholds, who led the Wildcats in hitting as their starting catcher, was selected to the 2010 All-Tri-Valley League Softball first team. The Wildcats won a Class 2-1A regional title and played in the Class 2-1A state tournament in May.
Humboldt High’s sophomore Taylyn Wells earned all-league first-team honors as a second baseman.
Receiving honorable mention were Yates Center sophomore pitcher Daryean Estes and Humboldt’s sophomore shortstop Hannah McCall.
