Kansas Shrine Bowl to be televised by Cox

PITTSBURG — Yates Center High’s Dylan Sicka, a 2010 graduate, finishes his high school running career Saturday in the third annual Kansas Shrine Bowl All-Star Cross Country Race.
Sicka is member of the East boy’s squad running in the 5K race in Pittsburg before the kickoff of the annual Kansas Shrine Bowl All-Star Football Game.
Sicka and the other runners arrived in Pittsburg Thursday. The race, along with a two-mile Charity Road Race, starts at 6:20 p.m. Saturday with the finish line in Pittsburg State’s Carnie Smith Stadium.
The football game kicks off at 7 p.m.
Tonight is the Kansas Shrine Bowl Banquet at Pittsburg High School.
At 10 a.m. Saturday is the Kansas Shrine Parade in downtown Pittsburg.
Also at 10 is the Shrine Bowl Football Combine and Clinic for high school atheltes at St. Mary’s-Colgan High School. Check-in is at 9 a.m. for a $50 fee.
There will be hospital screening clinic for children with a medical need at the Mirza Shrine Temple in downtown Pitsburg starting at 10 a.m.
Starting at 3 p.m. is tailgate party at Gorilla Village near the stadium.
All proceeds of Shrine Bowl activities benefit the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

COX CABLE Communications will provide exclusive live coverage of the 37th annual Kansas Shrine Bowl on Cox Kansas 22 on Saturday.
The telecast begins with a pre-game show at 6:30 p.m. followed by kick-off shortly after 7 p.m.   
College-bound players, who are both standouts on the field and in the classroom, are divided into East and West team members. As host, Cox Communications is helping spread the message to raise money for the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Re-telecasts of the game are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Aug. 9 and 21 on Cox Kansas 22. For access anytime, the game will be available for up to a year in the local programming section of Cox On DEMAND free to Cox Digital Cable customers.
Kansas 22 is a local origination channel that is available statewide on the Cox cable system.
It has been reported that 6,000 tickets have been sold for the game.
There were no cheerleaders from the area involved in this year’s event.
