The annual Hooked on Fishing, Not On Drugs (HOFNOD) fishing derby is set for Saturday at Craig and Georgia Abbott’s pond along north Cottonwood Street in Iola.

The derby, originally scheduled for June 4, was postponed then because of rain.

Gates open at 8 a.m., with rules read at 8:45, and the fishing to commence immediately thereafter.

Fishing runs up until 11, with awards for the most prolific participants.

Hot dogs and chips will be served afterward.

The children will fish in three age groups, 2-6, 9-12 and 13-17.

The event is sponsored by the Iola Police Department.
