HUMBOLDT — First Baptist Church of Humboldt is  providing free breakfasts on Sunday mornings.

A $6,000 grant from the Central Region of the American Baptist Churches is funding the breakfasts, which will continue for the next two years.

The meals will be served starting at 9 a.m., in the assembly room at the rear of the church located at 218 N. Seven St. Limited parking is available in the alley on the south side, with more ample parking in the lot on the north side.

Talks of a breakfast program were first brought up during discussions about applying for the grant.

The money from the grant will be administered monthly. Deacons have stressed that no financial compensation is expected from any participant.

The menu each week will be biscuits with sausage gravy and mixed fruit. Drinks will also be provided.

The project somewhat mirrors Iola Presbyterian Church’s soup suppers on Sunday evenings twice a month.

The Baptists hope the project, which was done previously with great success, will provide welcome relief during these trying times.

All are welcome, regardless of denomination or faith.
