Iola native shines on and off stage

Iola native Marah Melvin McFadden of Shawnee has been working on a number of projects at the Lawrence Arts Center.

Last fall, she appeared in “Pulp Fiction — Music Friction” as the female lead character, Mia Wallace.

The play is a musical written with songs featured in the “Pulp Fiction” movie soundtrack. 

McFadden also served as co-choreographer for that production as well as for the children’s production of “Fancy Nancy: The Musical.”

In addition, McFadden has finished filming for a movie set in the Flapper Era and is a lead dancer in the film. She also has been singing with Kansas City-area bands.

McFadden studied theater at Emporia State University.

She’s the wife of Wesley McFadden, the daughter of Iolans Mick and Mona Melvin and the granddaughter of Jeanne Percy, Iola, and the late William Glenn Percy.
