Matt Stuckey figures participants in a fundraiser Sunday at Wesley United Methodist Church will have more than 40 soup recipes to savor.
“And, when they get done, even with a small helping, everyone will be full,” said Lori Cooper. “No one ever leaves hungry.”
Stuckey and Cooper work with the church’s youth group, which often draws 60 or more kids.
The fifth annual “Souper” Chef Challenge will raise money for a mission trip planned this summer to New Orleans. The charge will be $5 for adults and $3 for children.
The soup supper also serves as a contest. Voting will be done by dropping a coin in a cup placed near each soup vessel.
Festivities will start unfolding at 11:45 a.m., right after Sunday school concludes, and participation certainly isn’t limited to those who attend services at Wesley United Methodist, corner of Madison and Buckeye. With cold weather forecast for Sunday hot soup should appeal.
“It will be a fun time,” Cooper said.
Other fundraisers are planned monthly by the WUMC youth group.
“We want to raise as much as can for the mission trip so the kids don’t have to come up with so much,” Cooper said.
