Iola Community Theatre’s excellently cast staging of Jack Heifner’s “Vanities” enters its final run this weekend with a 7 p.m. show on Friday and a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday. Set against the backdrop of the cultural and political ferment of the 1960s, “Vanities” tracks the lives of three close-knit friends — Kathy (Persephone Burleson), Mary (Sarah Aikins) and Joanne (Kate Terhune) — as they journey from small-town high school to popular sorority house to the Atlantis of crushed dreams and altered hopes that is early adulthood. This trenchant, very often funny, and refreshingly straight-talking dramedy is well worth the price of admission — which includes coffee and dessert. Alison Fees directed. Above from left are Terhune, Terhune with Aikins, and, at lower left, Burleson. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.
