Area church bells will be ringing at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in a national recognition of the nearly 400,000 Americans who have died from COVID-19.
Residents are encouraged to put lit candles in their windows.
Iola will join communities across the nation in remembering the lives lost to the pandemic.
Organizers see it as a way to make a statement of unity while staying home and staying safe.
The bells will peal 400 times.
First Presbyterian Church and St. John’s Catholic Church will participate in the memorial.
