College hires finance chief

Matthew Gleason was hired this week as Allen Community College's new vice president of finance and operations, one of several personnel actions approved by ACC trustees.

Allen Community College trustees hired Matthew Gleason Tuesday as Vice President of Finance and Operations, effective Sept. 1.

Gleason brings more than 20 years of accounting and financial leadership experience to Allen, with a career spanning higher education and municipal government. 

He most recently served as city treasurer and finance director for the City of Grand Island, Neb., where he oversaw the city’s finance and information technology divisions.

Prior to his tenure in Grand Island, Gleason spent over a decade at Peru State College in Nebraska, serving as director of accounting and audit services and later as a full-time faculty member. He also held the role of assistant vice president for fiscal affairs/controller at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, where he managed business office operations and institutional finances.

In addition to his administrative leadership, Gleason has taught a wide range of accounting and finance courses at both Peru State and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, from introductory to advanced levels.

The Columbus native is a Pittsburg State University graduate and holds four professional accounting certifications.

TRUSTEES  approved several other personnel moves, hiring Cali Riley as a business office assistant and Halle Zupan as assistant softball coach and residence hall director.

Trustees also approved transfers for Peyton Thompson and Michael Rasmussen, into the custodial and maintenance department. Josiah D’Albini, director of advancement, is also now director of student life.

Resignations of Nate Rodriguez, an academic advisor, and instructors Lisa Wicoff and Huda Zeitouni were accepted as well.

TRUSTEES also met several new employees, who were introduced at the outset of Tuesday’s meeting: Brad Henderson, director of public relations and marketing communications; Cami Keitel, vice president for student affairs, Terra Petit, online learning coordinator; Scott Brownrigg, criminal justice studies instructor; Josh Wrestler and Jeremy Hess, co-head coaches for the ACC’s new shooting sports team; Destry Roye, assistant shooting sports coach and residence hall director; and Summer Tate, assistant cheer and dance coach and residence hall director.
