GAS — A public hearing for Gas city’s 2011 budget, containing a slight levy increase, will be at 6:30 p.m., Aug. 10 in City Hall.
The levy is 30.097 mills, .750 of a mill more than this year’s, but .229 of a mill less than 2009’s.
A levy of 1 mill raises $1 for each $1,000 of assessed valuation. A home valued at $100,000 is assessed at $11,500, meaning a levy of 1 mill generates $11.50 in tax money.
Most of the pending levy, 17.154, is for the general fund and will produce $29,147 on valuation of $1,699,163. Altogether, general fund expenditures are pegged at $204,366, just a touch over $1,000 more than this year’s.
Other levies are for bond and interest, 5.462, and employee benefits, 7.481.
