GREELEY — Eight people were killed and another was critically injured in a head-on collision in rural Franklin County Sunday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol has yet to release the identity of the victims, or the breakdown of what occurred, pending notification of relatives.
The accident occurred at about 5:40 p.m. along U.S. 169, just east of Virginia Road, or about three miles northeast of Greeley.
Witnesses said two vehicles were quickly engulfed in flames.
The road was closed off for several hours while crews worked the scene.
