Iolan Darrell Cole suffered injuries Friday in a fire that destroyed his house in the 300 block of South Chestnut Street.
The early morning fire took several hours to contain, as firefighters repeatedly doused the structure with water, only to have it reignite.
The fire was reported shortly after 6:30 a.m., when neighbors spotted smoke, then flames, coming from the house at 311 S. Chestnut.
Cole had emerged, covered in soot.
He was transported to Allen County Regional Hospital. The severity of his injuries was not yet known.
