Volunteers with the Iola Community Involvement Task Force/PRIDE Committee spent much of Friday morning digging up sweet potato vines from flower pots adorning Iolas downtown square. Among the helpers were Dale Westerman, left, and Karen Gilpin. The vines will be taken temporarily to a greenhouse at Lincoln Elementary School to be kept over the winter so they can be replanted next spring around the square. The pots soon will be adorned with Christmas decorations for the holiday season.
