Allen Community College trustees will gather for a special meeting at 5 p.m. Monday to discuss a recent facilities assessment that spelled out millions of dollars in necessary improvements to the Iola campus, the college’s dormitories and other facilities.
Josh Vogel of Simpson Construction Services, Michael Wilbert of Basis Consulting Engineers and Emily D.A. Koenig of Architect One, hired by the college to conduct a top-to-bottom facilities study over the summer, identified a variety of deferred maintenance needs, particularly with climate control systems at the main Iola campus building.
Recommendations from a space allocation report would also carry a hefty price tag to implement, if the college opted to add on to the Iola building.
If all of the proposed upgrades and space allocation projects were done immediately, the engineers pegged the price tag at about $28 million.
The meeting will be held in the Ambler Meeting Room within the ACC Student Center and is open to the public.
