Advocates from Allen County Recycling will speak Monday with Iola and county leaders about their vision of a countywide recycling program.
The topic has been discussed at both Iola City Council and Allen County Commission meetings on multiple occasions, with little traction.
Now, advocates hope having representatives from both entities at the same spot will help those discussions progress.
The occasion is Monday’s regular City Council meeting. Also slated to be on hand is County Commissioner John Brocker.
Also on the agenda for the City Council’s discussions is a full review of Iola’s proposed 2026 budget. The city plans to schedule an Aug. 25 public hearing for formal ratification.
The Council also is expected to discuss a proposed ordinance that would give the Council more leverage in dealing with property nuisance violations.
The 6 p.m. meeting will be held in the New Community Building at Iola’s Riverside Park.
The public is invited.
