1. It’s alive!

After lying dormant since February, Chevrolet made some gasping sounds at Chicagoland on Sunday thanks to Kyle Larson, who finished second to Kyle Busch. “Hey, we put on a hell of a show for you guys, and that was a blast,” Larson said after trading paint with Busch.

2. Reset mindset

After the drama between Busch and Larson on the last lap, there was talk of the finish being one of the greatest of all time. Not so fast. The new kid on the NBC announcers block, Dale Earnhardt Jr., put it in perspective. “This was a great race from start to finish,” he said.

3. Some surprises

Aric Almirola earned his first stage point and led a race-high 70 laps, but pit-road trouble pushed him to a 25th-place finish. Young guns Erik Jones and Alex Bowman quietly scored top-10 finishes at Chicago-land. “This is good momentum going into next week’s race,” Bowman said.
