WASHINGTON (AP) — Shrey Parikh, 14,  won  the Scripps National Spelling Bee, the final test of a six-year competitive spelling career marked by triumph and heartbreak.

This time Parikh knew the words he was asked to spell. All of them.

From Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Parikh is the 31st of the past 37 champions with Indian heritage.

In 2025, Parikh lost his school’s bee. After a few months, he rededicated himself.

Parikh’s winning word was bromocriptine.
