A ribbon cutting ceremony for the Mothers of Miracles (MOMs) playground at Iola’s Riverside Park will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The park was opened recently, capping a monthslong process in which a local group of volunteers raised more than $190,000, through help from Iola Kiwanis and a sizable grant from Kiwanis International.
The volunteers then installed most of the equipment themselves, with assistance from the city.
Construction crews recently installed foam padding, allowing the equipment to be opened to the public.
The park opened after crews installed the all-weather padding beneath the equipment.
The equipment, geared for youngsters with special needs, is fun for all.
