HUMBOLDT — Stacy Mueller is a traditionalist.
She doesn’t intend to decorate cookies and other baked goods she sells at Stacy’s Cakes, 804 Bridge St., with Christmas themes until after Thanksgiving.
“That’s when the Christmas season starts,” she said.
But, there’s no shortage of palate-tickling goodies in her bake shop and cafe, from homemade soups and sandwiches on homemade bread, to cinnamon rolls, cookies, cupcakes and, the newest addition, cakes for two.
When the holiday season hits, she will have special offerings most days and prepare most anything for special order with a day or two notice.
For holiday parties, Stacy will have platters of meat and cheese, vegetables or cupcakes and cookies available with preorders.
Sweets lovers don’t have to wait for holidays specials.
She has cookies, cupcakes and rolls available every day, including a few prepared sugar-free. She needs lead time for decorated cakes.
Stacy prefers baking, saying “I don’t like to cook as much.”
She began baking cakes and other special-order fare from home about two years ago and opened her bake shop in February. She and husband Mark, who helps daily in the shop, live above the bake shop, which was Garvey’s Drug Store for years.
The shop is open 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. For orders or questions call 620-473-3035.
