Driver’s body recovered

The body of a trash truck driver was found in the Delaware River near Perry Saturday. Authorities said the accident occurred during inclement weather.

PERRY, Kan. (AP) — A trash truck driver who was reported missing after not returning from his route was found dead after his truck slid into the Delaware River during inclement weather, authorities said.

The body of 32-year-old Bernard Singleton, of Topeka, was found Saturday in the river near Perry.

Singleton was driving west on U.S. 24 Friday morning when he lost control of his truck because of inclement weather, the Kansas Highway Patrol said.
