Savonburg Public Librarys second annual An American Girl Tea at the Library function drew 70 girls and their parents, grandparents or other chaperones Tuesday. Among the participants, above, were Kathryn Bennett, left, and her grandmother, Carla Bennett, having a discussion while they sip their tea. Below left, a group waits to be served. Organizer Kathy Hale instructed the young ladies proper etiquette, such as how to hold napkins, eat scones and stir their cups of tea without clinking their spoons. Savonburg Library Board members helped set the tables, using fine china procured by the library in recent years, or on loan from local residents. The food was donated or purchased by the library board members as well. Meanwhile, a group of young boys kept themselves occupied outdoors at the same time, by playing kickball and touring the Savonburg fire barn. Here, firefighters David Janssen, left, and Lon Hale assist 6-year-old Travis Vogel as he dons a firefighters gear. They feasted on hot dogs afterward.
