The Yates Center softball team swept past Pleasanton on the road on Monday.
The Lady Cats won the first game 12-5 and the second 15-6. They are now 12-6 overall.
Pleasanton jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first before Yates Center scored four runs in both the second and third innings to take an 8-1 lead.
The Lady Jays scored a run in the bottom of the third and then scored three more in the bottom of the fifth to cut Yates Centers lead to three.
The Lady Cats scored four runs in the top of the sixth to push their lead to seven runs and Pleasanton had no response before the end of the game.
Taylor Jacobs earned the win, allowing five runs (one earned) on seven hits and two walks. She struck out two.
Madelynn Collins recorded three hits in the game to lead the way for Yates Center and Emma Chrisman and Julia Day each had two. Chrisman had a team-high four RBIs.
Pleasanton jumped out to a 1-0 lead again in game two and it took until the top of the third before the Lady Cats jumped ahead with five runs in the top of the third.
The Lady Jays scored a run in the bottom of the third to get within three but Yates Center scored four more runs in the top of the fourth and another in the top of fifth to push their lead to 10-2.
Pleasanton scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth to get within six and Yates Center responded with a run in the top of the sixth and four runs in the top of the seventh.
The Lady Jays attempted to rally in the bottom of the seventh but only got across two runs before the Lady Cats closed the door and got the sweep.
Collins got the start and the win, allowing six runs (two earned) on three hits and three walks. She struck out five.
The Yates Center defense committed five errors.
Jacobs had four hits in the game and Jordan Weseloh had three. Katelynn Jones and Anna Westerman had two hits.
The Lady Cats will close out their regular season with a series at Southeast-Cherokee on Thursday.
