Josephine “Jo” Annette Lushbough, 58, of Iola died of cancer Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011, at Iola Nursing Center.

She was born Nov. 15, 1953, in Toronto, to Boyd Wilmer and Dorothy Lorraine (Beck) Hobbs. She graduated from Eureka High School in 1971.

She married Terry Lushbough in 1976. They made their home in Wichita and later divorced. She returned to Iola to live. She worked at Haldex Brake for a number of years and then for Guest Home Estates before her health failed.

She enjoyed her cats and was a member of the Women’s International Bowling Association.

She is survived by a son, Jonathan, Iola; a daughter, Rochelle “Shelley” Schmitz and her husband, Ryan, Carl Junction, Mo.; her mother-in-law, Juanita McHaley, Iola; a sister, Patrica Litherland, Topeka; six grandchildren, Brennon Hilton, Sally Lushbough, Travis Hughes, Patrick Lenigan, Matthew Schmitz and Addison Schmitz; five nephews; and special friend and caregiver, Wanda Brooks, Iola.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola.
