Constance Miller

Constance Lea “Connie” (Gumfory) Miller, age 68, of rural LaHarpe, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2020, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute, after battling cancer. 

She was born on Nov. 9, 1951, to Lee and Colleen (Kinzle) Gumfory at St. John’s Hospital in Gas. 

On Feb. 14, 1970, she married Floyd James Miller. Together they had two children, a son Eric and daughter Tamara. They later divorced. 

Connie graduated from Iola High School in 1969. She then attended the Neosho County School of Nursing, graduating in 1974. From then until her health failed in August of 2019 she worked in long term care at Iola nursing homes, most recently at Windsor Place in Iola as a charge nurse. Throughout the years she cared for many residents, worked with many staff members and loved them all. She had also worked at her parent’s business, Zero Packing, wrapping meat when needed. 

She met Roy Caler in September of 1981. They have been together ever since. 

Connie enjoyed camping and having cookouts with family, country dancing with Roy, and spending time with her grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her mother Colleen; brother, Steve Phillips; and brother-in-law, Joe Peters. 

Connie is survived by Roy Caler of the home; father, Lee Gumfory, Iola; son, Eric Miller and wife, Kenny Sue, Iola; daughter, Tamara Womelsdorf and husband Dereck, Iola; sisters, Roxy Peters and Debbie Clark and husband, Lewis, all of Iola; granddaughters, Ember and Katelyn Womelsdorf, Maci Miller, Kristin Lamb, Madisyn Miller; great-granddaughter, Chevy Rae Harper; sister-in-law, Connie Phillips, Iola; one niece, nephews and several cousins. 

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., on Thursday at Highland Cemetery, Iola. Friends may pay their respects until 8 p.m. today at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Home, 1883 US Hwy 54, Iola. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Kappa Alpha Sorority Cancer Fund, Iola, Kansas.
