Cora L. O’Rourke, 67, Iola, passed into eternal life Sunday, April 12, 2015, at Windsor Place in Iola.
Cora was born Feb. 8, 1948, in Concordia, the daughter of August and Nellie (Rogers) Tubach. She graduated from Glasco High School and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Emporia State University. Cora taught for 36 years, teaching in Moran and at Lincoln Elementary in Iola.
She was a former member of Gamma Delta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Business and Professional Women’s Club of Iola and International Reading Association. Cora was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Iola, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
Her passion was reading. She also enjoyed cooking, swimming and traveling.
On Aug. 11, 1973, Cora married Joe O’Rourke at St. John’s Catholic Church in Iola.
She is survived by her husband; a brother, Raymond Tubach, Larned; a sister, Freda Sager and husband Howard, Topeka; a sister-in-law, Mary Jo Tubach Garrett, Emporia; and many nieces and nephews.
Cora was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Clyde Tubach and Lemoine Tubach; and sister Elaine Dunlap.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church in Iola. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Iola.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hope Unlimited. Memorial gifts may be left with Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
