Donald Leon Hammer, 75, Iola, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at his home from natural causes.
He was born May 15, 1942, in Iola to Willard and Agnes (Butler) Hammer. He grew up in Iola and graduated from Iola High School. He later worked for a time in Kansas City as a truck driver, and returned to Iola to run the family farm. He lived out his days farming and taking care of his beloved dogs.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Guyett, of Missouri; grandsons Ryan and Evan Guyett, also of Missouri; brothers Alvin Hammer, California, and Lavon Hammer, Colony; several nieces and nephews; and ex-spouse Geraldine Hammer of Iola.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Rollin Hammer.
A service is at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery at Iola.
