Garland Edward “Gary” Manbeck, 71, Chanute, passed away Monday, July 21, 2014 at his home.  
Gary was born on Dec. 8, 1942 in Moran to Edward and Lorraine (Canfield) Manbeck. He graduated from Moran Rural High in 1960.
On Jan. 19, 1962, he married Judy Ruxton at Mildred Methodist Church in Mildred. Gary worked as a heavy equipment operator for Ash Grove Cement Company. Gary participated with bowling leagues, recreational basketball, church softball and Methodist Men. Gary was also involved with Boy Scouts, coached his sons’ baseball teams, volunteered at the R.S.V.P group at Chanute High School and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chanute.
Gary is survived by his wife, Judy; three sons, Scott A. Manbeck and wife Sally, Humboldt, Keith Manbeck and wife Tracy, Gardner, Monte Manbeck and wife Stacy, Thayer; grandchildren Katie Smith and husband Nathan, Jacob, Mark, Kevin, Lori, Marissa, Kyler and Mason Manbeck; and sister Kathy Ryan, Cypress, Texas.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lorraine.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Chanute. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Countryside Funeral Home Johnson Chapel, Chanute. The family suggests memorials be given to First United Methodist Church Chanute or Chanute Senior Center.
