Virginia (Ginny) N. Christy, 87, Le Roy, passed away Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at Colorado Plains Medical Center, Fort Morgan, Colo.
Virginia Norene Gregersen, the daughter of Harry Hansen and Violet Alta Gillespie Gregersen, was born Oct. 24, 1930, near Vernon. She graduated from Le Roy High School in 1947. She received an associate degree from Allen County Community College and was certified as an operating room technician.
On Aug. 8, 1948, she married Calvin Curtis Christy at First Christian Church, Le Roy.
Surviving members of the family include her sister, Shirley Moore (Raymond); two sons, Richard Christy (Karen), Osage City, and Randall K. Christy, Blanchard, Okla.; four daughters, Connie C. (Chris) Evans (Darryl), Pensacola, Fla., Beverly F. Bertram (Peter), Chadron, Neb., Deanna L. Twiford (John), Cheyenne, Wyo., and Cathy C. Fleming (Dale), Wiggins, Colo.; 20 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband and parents; two brothers, Gene Gregersen and Glen Gregersen; a daughter, Michelle K. Breuer; a grandson, Kevin J. Christy; and two great-grandchildren, Phillip G. McVay Schuttenburg and Addison N. Cook.
Over the years, Virginia was a mother/homemaker and worked at Allen County Hospital, where she retired after more than 30 years. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Le Roy.
Her funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, Le Roy. Burial will follow at the Logue Cemetery. Pastor Charlie Patterson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday.
