I.H. “Cope” Copeland, 88, Parsons, died Saturday, April 4, 2015, in Parsons.
He was born in McAlester, Okla., on Sept. 5, 1926, and grew up there. He worked for the M-K-T Railroad for many years, retiring in 1972 as signal supervisor. He had lived in Parsons since 1967. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946.
He and Rowena (Lind) Walker were married in Moran on July 31, 1965, and she preceded him in death Sept. 2, 2014. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Parsons.
He is survived by two daughters, Candyce Ellison and husband Paul, Hewitt, Texas, and Cheryl Geuea, Granbury, Texas; a stepson, Bill Walker and wife Kay, Parsons; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren
Preceding him in death were a grandson, Criston Wharton, three brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons. The graveside committal service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Fairview Cemetery in Mildred.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials to Calvary Baptist Church may be sent to the funeral home at Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.
